Hannah Karema Tumukunde

When Hannah Karema Tumukunde was crowned Miss Uganda 2023, she chose to use her reign to create lasting impact. She dedicated herself to improving menstrual health and hygiene while advocating for girls’ education and the protection of young girls from child marriages.

Believing that no girl should miss out on education because of her menstrual cycle, Hannah worked closely with schools and communities to break the stigma surrounding menstruation. Through awareness campaigns, education, and the distribution of menstrual hygiene products, she empowered young girls with the knowledge and confidence to stay in school and pursue their dreams.

Her passion for service resonated far beyond Uganda’s borders. At the 71st Miss World Festival, Hannah earned international recognition when she was crowned Africa’s Beauty With a Purpose Winner, became First Runner-Up for Miss World Africa, and secured a place among the Top 8 finalists in the world one of Uganda’s greatest achievements at Miss World.

Hannah’s reign stands as a powerful reminder that true beauty is measured not by appearance, but by the lives we touch. under the Hannah Karema Foundation, her legacy continues to inspire young women to lead with compassion, serve their communities, and use their voices to create meaningful change
